Debt Reduction

God wants His people to be as free of debt as possible. Debt is a type of enslavement and God does not want His children enslaved.

Pastors should encourage church members to reduce their debt as much and as soon as possible. Classes should be given by people in the church who know how to manage money for all those who would like to attend them.

Pastors should encourage church members to reduce debt in order to have a better quality of life and to also be able to give more to God’s work.

Pastors should discuss indebtedness with young couples getting married and discourage them from getting into debt too soon. Most marriage problems involve too much debt.

Pastors should ask church members to set goals to reduce debt. Have garage sales twice a year so members can sell unwanted items to reduce their debt.

Ask members to revaluate every bill they pay to see if it can be reduced or eliminated. Let members put up a bulletin board for jobs in the church so that people who would like to earn extra money can find work to do off of the bulletin board.  Ask members to set goals for being almost debt free in two to three years or less.

Set up a bulletin board with tips on how to save money.

Ask God to help the members to have the knowledge and wisdom on how to reduce debt. Seek God’s guidance on purchases of a car, furniture or house.

With God’s help, all things are possible and He will help his people reduce their debt if they will seek his face and worship him and his son Jesus.
